About us
Established in 1987 Reliance Foundries started Production 1995 of SABS Manhole Covers, Storm Water Grids, Meter Boxes and other Cast Iron Infrastructure products for the Southern African markets. Since 1995 Reliance Foundries supplied +- 25000 tons of Manhole Covers and Frames in the Southern African Markets to the SABS specifications.
In 2010 the Reliance Group a regional Iron and Steel producer in Botswana established Everest Steel specializing in fittings for shouldered pipe systems.
In 2014 Reliance Foundries appointed Everest Steel as the only Distributor of the various Reliance Foundries infrastructure product ranges, manhole covers and grates
In 2014 Reliance Foundries terminated other Distributor agreements and appointed Everest Steel as the only Importer and Distributor of the various Infrastructure product ranges.
In 2014 Everest Steel established an additional supply chain from Producers in India on Manhole Covers and Frames and Pipe Jointing components to South African Standards and Everest Steel owned designs.
Everest Steel is currently testing products under supervision of accredited inspection agencies.

- Regular Mechanical & Chemical Analysis is performed during production with load & Strength tests
- Metal Grades are tested during melting to international requirements

Ductile Ratings
Class : A15
Covers and grates of this class are capable of withstanding 15kN (~1.5 tonnes) test load which can be used in pedestrain areas and by pedal cyclists.
Class : SANS558
Car parks and pedestrian areas where occasional vehicle access is likely.
Class : C250
Covers and grates of this class are capable of of withstanding 250kN (~25 tonnes) test load.
Class : D400
Carraige ways, hard-shoulder where cars and lorries have access.
Class : E600
Covers and grates of this class are capable of withstanding a 600kN (~60 tonnes) in test loading areas, docks, aircraft pavement
Class : F900
Covers and grates of this class are capable of withstanding a 900kN (~90 tonnes) in test loading areas, docks, aircraft pavements.
